     Το Κέντρον Ερεύνης της Ελληνικής Λαογραφίας της Ακαδημίας Αθηνών πραγματοποίησε από 16 Απριλίου έως 2 Μαϊου 2004 έκθεση με τίτλο «Ακρίτες της Ευρώπης» στο Βυζαντινό και Χριστιανικό Μουσείο. Την έκθεση εγκαινίασαν η Υπουργός Παιδείας κ. Μαριέττα Γιαννάκου και ο Υφυπ. Πολιτισμού κ. Πέτρος Τατούλης. Παρέστησαν Γενικοί Γραμματείς Υπουργείων η κ. Ελένη Αρβελέρ και πολύ κοινό.
     
     Η έκθεση είχε προγραμματιστεί να παραμείνει ανοιχτή μέχρι 25 Απριλίου και λόγω μεγάλης προσέλευσης κοινού το Βυζαντινό Μουσείο ζήτησε να παραμείνει ανοιχτή μια επιπλέον εβδομάδα. Η ίδια έκθεση παρουσιάστηκε στη συνέχεια στην πόλη των Ιωαννίνων με επιτυχία.
      
     Αποτελεί επίτευγμα του pρογράμματος ACRINET η διεπιστημονική προσέγγιση του αντικειμένου των Ακριτών και η ανάδειξή του ως πολύσημου πολιτισμικού και ιστορικού φαινομένου μέσα από μια ευρύτερη «πολυεθνική» και διαθρησκευτική προσέγγιση. Το Βυζάντιο, η Ανατολή και η Δύση  κι ανάμεσά τους τα πραγματικά και νοερά  «άκρα», γέφυρες επικοινωνίας και πανανθρώπινων αξιών σ’ ένα κόσμο που οραματίζεται και επιδιώκει την ειρηνική επικοινωνία των λαών.
