     Η μεταστέγαση του Κέντρου Λαογραφίας κρίθηκε απαραίτητη το 1995 προκειμένου να επιτευχθεί η αναδιοργάνωσή του, ιδιαίτερα με την πραγματοποίηση του ευρωπαϊκού Προγράμματος εκσυγχρονισμού του (Ε.Π.Ε.Α.Ε.Κ.). Η Διευθύντρια Αικατ. Πολυμέρου-Καμηλάκη εισήγαγε στην Εφορευτική Επιτροπή το θέμα της μεταστέγασης του Κέντρου και τα μέλη της απεφάσισαν ομόφωνα να το προωθήσουν στη Διοίκηση της Ακαδημίας. Με συντονισμένες ενέργειες του τότε Προέδρου της Εφορευτικής Επιτροπής Ακαδημαϊκού M. Παλλαντίου, του επόπτη του Kέντρου Ακαδημαϊκού Παν. Λιγομενίδη, του τότε Προέδρου της Ακαδημίας αειμνήστου Γιάγκου Πεσμαζόγλου και της Διευθύντριας, το ΄Ιδρυμα Λίλιαν Βουδούρη με μια γενναία χορηγία εξασφάλισε νέα στέγη για το Κέντρο Λαογραφίας στο νεοκλασικό κτήριο στην οδό Ηπίτου 3. Το κόστος της ανακαίνισης του κτηρίου καλύφθηκε από την Ακαδημία Αθηνών και τη χορηγία των εταιρειών Θεμελιοδομή ΑΕ και Έντεχνος.
