     Το Κέντρο Λαογραφίας σε συνεργασία με το Κέντρο Έρευνας και Ανάδειξης Κρητικού Πολιτισμού του Δήμου Νεάπολης Λασιθίου Κρήτης οργάνωσαν συνέδριο με θέμα «Ο Κρητικός Λαϊκός Πολιτισμός και κορυφαίοι Λασιθιώτες Λαογράφοι του 20ού αιώνα» στις 29 και 30 Ιουλίου 2005 στη Νεάπολη Λασιθίου. Κορυφαίοι Λαογράφοι του νομού υπήρξαν διακεκριμένοι ερευνητές του Κέντρου Λαογραφίας, όπως οι αείμνηστοι Γεώργιος Σπυριδάκης, Διευθυντής του Κέντρου, η ταξινόμος του Κέντρου Μαρία Λιουδάκι και ο εθνομουσικολόγος καθηγητής Γεώργιος Αμαργιανάκης.
