     Εθνική Μουσική Συλλογή: Στο Λαογραφικό Αρχείο δημιουργήθηκε το Μουσικό Τμήμα στο οποίο έχει συγχωνευθεί από το 1927 η Εθνική Μουσική Συλλογή, ιδρυμένη το 1914 (Νόμος 432) «προς διάσωσιν και περισυλλογήν των ασμάτων, των χορών και των μουσικών οργάνων του ελληνικού λαού».

     Το 1939 απέκτησε το απαραίτητο «δια τας φωνοληψίας» μηχάνημα, το οποίο, λόγω των εθνικών περιπετειών  και, παρά τις προσπάθειες του τότε Διευθυντή Γεωργίου Μέγα «δια την χρήσιν και την καταγραφήν των δημωδών μελωδιών», χρησιμοποιήθηκε μετά το 1950, όταν το Λαογραφικό Αρχείο απέκτησε ειδικό μουσικό «συντάκτη». Το Κέντρο διαθέτει μουσικές καταγραφές από το 1952 και εξής σε  μεγάλο αριθμό ταινιών και κασετών (περίπου 30.000 ώρες), οι οποίες ψηφιοποιούνται σταδιακά στο πλαίσιο ειδικών προγραμμάτων στον χώρο του Μουσικού Εργαστηρίου «Μενέλαος Παλλάντιος» του Κέντρου.

     Το 2005 με δωρεά της κ. Ελένης Ντάλα περιήλθε στο Κέντρο η Συλλογή μουσικών καταγραφών σε ογδόντα κυλίνδρους από κερί καθώς και το μοναδικό μουσικό όργανο «παναρμόνιο» του αειμνήστου μουσικού - μουσικολόγου Κωνσταντίνου Ψάχου.
