In 1995 it was decided to move the Folklore Centre to new premises, where it could be reorganized funding having been received from the European Community programme for its development and modernization. Dr Aikaterini Polymerou-Kamilakis, Director of the Centre, discussed the issue of the transfer of the Centre to new premises with the Supervisory Committee, whose members decided to bring the issue to the notice of the administration of the Academy of Athens. Thanks to efforts on the part of Menelaos Pallantios, then President of the Supervisory Committee of the Centre, Panos Ligomenidis, Supervisor of the Centre, of Yiangos Pesmazoglou, then President of the Academy of Athens and of Aikaterini Polymerou-Kamilakis, a generous donation was secured from the Foundation Lilian Voudouri to provide new premises for the Centre in a Neoclassical building located at 3 Ipitou St. The cost of the renovation of the building was met by the Academy of Athens and by a donation kindly made by Themeliodomi S.A. and Entechnos.
